Berkeley Hills

About This Project

The design focused on the need for water conservation and low maintenance for a challenging site in a wooded area with limited usable land.

Extensive terracing with pre-cast cement blocks created distinct areas for gathering while custom-built IPE planters double as functional sitting benches throughout the garden. Galvanized wire fences allow one to take advantage of neighboring park views. A wrap-around courtyard includes a bocci ball court that provides entertainment for the couple’s two young children. The use of almost 100% unusual drought tolerant and exotic plants create an unassuming, delightful landscape that is practical and visually appealing.
